Hartz Mountains
Hartz Mountains National Park, dotted with tarns and fragile cushion plants, provides sweeping views of the south-west wilderness all the way to the Southern Ocean.
Ida Bay Railway
Take a two-hour return trip on a restored section of this historic line travelling through wildflower-dotted bushland and coastal heath. Deep Hole Bay marks the line's end where you'll find a long, white sand swimming beach, accessible only by rail.
Hastings Caves and Thermal Springs
Join a Parks and Wildlife guide on a 45-minute daily tour through the large cavern. Swim in the thermal pool, fed by the natural spring at around 28 degrees surrounded by forest and ferns.
Cockle Creek
This is the entry point to the Southwest National Park in Tasmania's Wilderness World Heritage Area. The South Coast Track - One of Tasmania's great bushwalks, begins here.
Tahune AirWalk
This 597m walk amongst the trees gets you 20m above the ground. The highlight is the cantilever that is 48m above the river level, providing fantastic views of the forests and the junction of the Picton and Huon Rivers.
St Imre Vineyard
This boutique vineyard is located on the highway just north of Dover and grows Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris and the more hard to find varieties of Ziegerrebe, Baco Noir and Gamay. They have recently opened their cafe which offers good coffee, cakes and tasting plates.
